Question Yeah srry.. another "returning player" question

Hi All

I looked on the first few pages and saw some close to what i need to ask but nothing exact... sorry if i missed it.

Anyway, Im coming back from playing the first few months.. i have the ORIGINAL disk and have installed it etc. my questions are:

1. Can i play my level 20 with any kind of efficiency with just this version of the game.

2. Starting a new character, will this be ok and fun with this version.

3. Im kinda broke right now, if i HAD to get an expansion to make my play more enjoyable (im a PVE solo quester , that groups when i have to for quests) what would all you gurus recommend.

Thanks a heap guys.. i appreciate it.

1) For PvE, absolutely. Some of the skills available in the other campaigns and the expansion are extremely helpful, but not required. For PvP, you will be at a significant disadvantage without access to the other classes and skills.

2) It can be, but that depends on you. Pre-searing has a large population, but most of the people there at this point in the games life are veterans working on the Defender of Ascalon title and/or farming Nick Sanford.

3) Nightfall for the heroes. Heroes allow you to do things easier without spending time finding other people. Some of the skills there are also very good, and you get access to some PvE skills through the Sunspear title. Factions has better options for classes (even as secondary) with Assassin and Ritualist, and also has some very useful skills. However, Factions offers no heroes (which make a big difference for PvE) and the PvE only skills require a larger amount of work to make them useful (raising the Allegiance titles).

I would get nightfall or eotn. Eotn has lots of better pve skills but a lot less heroes. If you could afford it I would get those 2 and save factions for getting when you has a little more disposable income. Or never at all since nothing about factions is good LAWL. No, I like AB. O, factions for SoS unless thats a core skill...but I doubt it since it is a rit skill and it never exsisted in prophecies?

1. Absolutely. I first completed Prophecies in pretty much the same way (mostly solo, only pugging when I got stuck, no access to heroes).

2. I always enjoy starting a new Prophecies character again; pre-searing always gets me nostalgic. And even if you do find it boring, you can still usually find a runner to get you from Ascalon to Lion's Arch or wherever.

3. Most parts of the game can be soloed in normal mode regardless of campaign, so to me it really boils down to what you can afford. If you were looking at Nightfall, you might as well pay the few dollars extra for the trilogy and get Factions at the same time. But if you're too broke for that, EoTN on its own comes with its own set of heroes, PvE skills etc. You choose.

1. yes

2. If you found it fun before, it will still be fun now.

3. If you are on a budget, get Eye of the North. There's lots of new content and Heroes, and there's a lot of activity there.

By the way, the game on the original disk is not the game you will be playing. You will be playing the same version of Prophecies as the rest of us. Automatic updates will occur as soon as you login. In fact, plan on leaving the download going overnight. The system will download everything, whether you have access to it or not.

Welcome back to a great game. And, at the moment, you can still purchase the Trilogy (contains Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) for $20 from direct2drive.com
The Trilogy would upgrade your Prophecies to Game of the Year edition and add Factions and Nightfall.
